CTE: Reality Fair

The Reality Fair, hosted by Mohawk Valley Community College in partnership with OHM BOCES, provided students with an engaging, hands-on financial literacy experience. During this interactive simulation, students were assigned a career, salary and credit score, allowing them to navigate real-life financial responsibilities. As they moved through various stations participants made important decisions about budgeting, housing, transportation and everyday expenses while receiving guidance and advice from community volunteers and financial professionals. The event challenged students to think critically about how their choices impact their financial well-being. They explored key areas such as healthcare options, transportation costs and managing credit, gaining a deeper understanding of the responsibilities that come with adulthood. The Reality Fair offered a valuable opportunity for students to build practical life skills, empowering them to make informed financial decisions in their future.
